Authorities at Lebanon International Airport have detained an American national, identified in official documents as Dakotawiod, after airport security officers allegedly discovered a suspected controlled substance during a routine luggage screening.

According to airport authorities, approximately 6 grams of cannabis was recovered from the passenger’s luggage while he was preparing to board a flight to the United States, where he was reportedly traveling to visit someone close to him in New Jersey.

The suspect stated during questioning that he had no knowledge of how the substance entered his luggage and denied any intentional possession.

Under Lebanon’s strict narcotics laws, including relevant provisions governing cannabis-related offenses, individuals found guilty after legal proceedings may face criminal penalties, including possible imprisonment and fines, depending on the circumstances of the case.
